Moving right down the alphabet! This month has been busy for us as the warmer weather finally arrived, but we still fit in some activities for the letter M. It’s easy to stick to lessons when they are so much fun!
There were a lot of activities we came up with to choose from, so I’m only sharing some of what we did. But I’m going to let you in on something that’s been a secret up til now! Once we complete our weekly alphabet lessons, I’m going to have something really exciting for you guys!
Sometime later this summer, I will be revealing an entire e-book full of alphabet crafts and activities! They will include the ones already shared here weekly of course; all put in one book for convenience. But there will be TONS of extras, too!
More ideas for each letter, crafts for the alphabet as a whole, and lots of activities that tie in with other skills our little ones need to be Kinder-ready! Ok, I’ve been brimming over with excitement to share that with you. So now that it’s out of my system, let’s get to this week’s activities for the letter M! And make sure to grab the free printables at the end of the post 🙂
M is for Monster
This craft is a great for leaving up to your kids interpretation and let them explore their creativity! All you have to do is cut out a letter M and give them some materials to work with. Then they can turn it into a monster however they want!
Magic Milk Experiment
I shared this in my huge list of science experiment last month. This one is so cool and will mesmerize your kiddos!

Take a bowl of room-temp milk and put a few drops of food coloring in it. Not much happens yet, but then you put a q-tip dipped in dish soap in it and it gets magical! Check out the original post on Living Life and Learning to see the pictures and learn the science behind it.
M is for Marshmallow
My kids would never forgive me if I let M week pass by without doing something for marshmallows! I don’t let them eat them often, but my kids LOVE marshmallows. So we did a little building activity!
You may have seen this one before, but it’s such a great STEAM activity for kids, I couldn’t pass it up. All you have to do is give your kids Marshmallows and toothpicks, and they can build their own masterpieces! For our letter lesson, I made sure we also made them into an M.
J stuck one marshmallow with a toothpick and said “done. Eat marshmallow?” haha! But I’m preeeeeeetty sure the foundation for future learning was still laid out. Or he just went tunnel vision on marshmallows, but ANYWAY! Needless to say, this was probably their favorite of our activities for the letter M, but not for learning purposes ha!
Mouse Looking for Cheese
This printable shows a poor little hungry mouse looking for his dinner. Your kiddo has to find all the Mm’s to fill him up!
Lulu has loved these worksheets to find that week’s letter, and they seem to be really helpful towards her remembering what they look like. I hope they’ve been helpful for your little learners as well!
Mermaid Swim Practice
The next printable is for mermaids! My daughter looooves mermaids so she got a kick out of this one. The mermaids need to practice their swimming, and your preschooler can help them in one of two ways.
They can choose whether they want to follow along the line with a pencil/crayon, or if they want to practice cutting. Really, they could start with drawing and then cut over the lines to practice both! Pencil and scissor control will be really important as they get older, and it is definitely something they need to practice to see improvements.
M is for Map
First, print out a map of the US. Just any ol’ map on google that has the state abbreviations on each state. Then have your kiddo color in any states with the letter “M” in them!
As we were doing this, I noticed something pretty cool, can you see it in the picture above? When the states including an “M” are connected, THEY make an “M”! I dunno about you, but we thought that was pretty neat. The right side was a bit shorter than we wanted for symmetrical purposes, so I just drew a little heart for her to connect to at the end.
Mirror Craft
This was a craft Lu and I originally did about a year and a half ago for a mother-daughter day, but I think she actually enjoyed it even more now. Does that mean she’s getting more vain?? Haha just kidding! Girl just likes to craft 😉
Follow the simple instructions in my original post to make your own mirror. Your kiddo will think it’s so awesome when they can actually (kind of) see their reflection in it!
Matching Muffins
Yet another wonderful printable– this one speaks to my love language: muffins! It’s a simple one but helps them make connections and deductions.
There are some muffins pictured, as well as ingredients. Looking at some little details of the muffin, such as the color, they have to match up with ingredient belongs with each muffin!

These weekly lessons are flying by! Our activities for the letter M were a lot of fun and I think the kiddos are happy since they got a couple marshmallows out of it haha.
